NLG Presents …

The ‘Urban Excursion”

Dates: July 9th - 11th (Thursday/Friday/Saturday)

The North London Group is excited to announce our first ‘Urban Excursion’.

This is the first in a series of landscape painting workshops exploring motifs around the cityscape of London. From the old and the new, to nature entwined with the bustling architecture of the city, we will explore the unique character of London through direct observation and painting.

For our first excursion, we will explore the environs of Highgate and Archway. From rooftop motifs to the late Victorian buildings of Whitehall Park, we will set up our easels twice daily over a period of three days, working from 10am–5pm on the 9th, 10th and 11th of July.

Students will receive both individual tuition and group critiques throughout the course of the workshop.

Participation includes complimentary admission to the Hampstead Art Society talk on Winifred Nicholson at 6pm on Thursday evening at St James’s, Piccadilly.

Students will also be welcome to join us for drinks at the gallery on Saturday evening after the workshop.

This workshop will be the first in a series of excursions exploring landscape painting in London. The workshop will also be preceded by a Zoom lecture on Tuesday 7th July.

Later in the summer, we will also be exploring motifs outside the city, taking day trips into the countryside a short distance from London.

Online participation and Residency positions (subject to portfolio review) are welcome.
